Anamorphic Lens Flare without Anamorphic Lens







So this is a tutorial for making the optical lens flare effect that is created when you use an anamorphic lens... but without the actual lens. I learned this trick by watching MacMave Tutorials which can be seen on this link: http://youtu.be/tWoC15TuKRU

In MacMave's tutorial, they use fishing line secured by a rubber band. Which works great until you have to focus onto your subject, then the actual fishing line prevents movement of the focus ring. I wanted to do one with a lens step up adapter, but didn't have one available, so I used a lens hood instead, and .029 Clear Nylon fishing line I bought from Walmart. Watch it and enjoy!
