A second look at Steven Spielberg's '1941' - LA Times

A second look at Steven Spielberg's '1941' - LA Times The comedy, which revolved around a panic that ensued in Los Angeles after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, was written by up-and-coming young screenwriters Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis. John Milius, who originally brought the project to Spielberg, was an executive producer. The film even included a clever parody of the opening of "Jaws" featuring the same actress, Susan Backlinie. But as the Universal and Columbia Pictures co-production grew and grew, so did the costs. "It was sort of a work in progress, an expensive work in progress," recalled producer Buzz Feitshans.

THE FILMS OF ROBERT ZEMECKIS

Image
Robert L. Zemeckis] (born May 14, 1951)is an American film director, producer and screenwriter Zemeckis was born in Chicago, Illinois,[2] the son of Rose (née Nespeca) and Alphonse Zemeckis.[6] His father was Lithuanian American and his mother was Italian American. Zemeckis grew up on the south side.[7] He attended a Roman Catholic grade school.[8] Zemeckis has said that "the truth was that in my family there was no art. I mean, there was no music, there were no books, there was no theater....The only thing I had that was inspirational, was television—and it actually was."[8] As a child, Zemeckis loved television and was fascinated by his parents' 8 mm film home movie camera. Starting off by filming family events like birthdays and holidays, Zemeckis gradually began producing narrative films with his friends that incorporated stop-motion work and other special effects. Along with enjoying movies, Zemeckis remained an avid TV watcher. "You hear so much ab

Anamorphic Lens Flare without Anamorphic Lens

Image
So this is a tutorial for making the optical lens flare effect that is created when you use an anamorphic lens... but without the actual lens. I learned this trick by watching MacMave Tutorials which can be seen on this link:  http://youtu.be/tWoC15TuKRU In MacMave's tutorial, they use fishing line secured by a rubber band. Which works great until you have to focus onto your subject, then the actual fishing line prevents movement of the focus ring. I wanted to do one with a lens step up adapter, but didn't have one available, so I used a lens hood instead, and .029 Clear Nylon fishing line I bought from Walmart. Watch it and enjoy!

SISKA | LA PLANETE ROUGE unconditional rebel - siska from Guillaume Panariello on Vimeo . Director Guillaume Panariello and VFX Supervisor Benoit Maffone conceptualized and interesting mural-like music vide for Siska, La Planete Rogue. 80 comedians with characters in the right place, the tempo, measured camera movements shot in 4K slow motion. The sequence was shot with 80 extras arranged on nearly 80 meters along in a small road in an industrial area. Filmed at 1000 frames / second with a Phantom 4k camera, it was mounted on a roll car 50 km / h. Pretty impressive.

Gabriel Garcia Marquez

"When I sit down to write, which is the essential moment in my life, I am completely alone. Whenever I write a book, I accumulate a lot of documentation. That background material is the most intimate part of my private life. It's a little embarrassing - like being seen in your underwear. It's like the way magicians never tell others how they make a dove come out of a hat." Gabriel Garcia Marquez

From Hollywood To Homeless: The Writer Of JASON X And DRIVE ANGRY On Screenwriting On The Edge | Badass Digest

From Hollywood To Homeless: The Writer Of JASON X And DRIVE ANGRY On Screenwriting On The Edge | Badass Digest Sometimes it's the little things. I have a beautiful daughter. And I love writing. I've been truly blessed. I'm a writer. That's a stunning thing considering I'm a dork from Kentucky. Does not compute! Still to this day, writing this... I have goosebumps. I'm a writer. And have been since 1996. All my life, though, really. My first three years I wrote under contract but have been lucky enough to get one job a year since, give or take a few rough years. That one job would pay off the credit cards and refill the coffers, which would buy time to sell or get the next job. A necessary cycle in the roller coaster of the working screenwriter. High highs and low lows but what a beautiful adventure!
